About
When I first started finding my identity as a music listener, mixtapes were a formative experience for me. Receiving them from others helped me discover new artists, and gave me a window into who my friends were. Making them for others was an all-day passion project. Not only did I have to choose each track carefully for the overall purpose or theme, but the overall flow had to be crafted with consideration to the transitions, the highs and lows, the start and finish.
In modern times, it’s become easier to discover new music, but also less rewarding. As I watched brick and mortar stores disappear, I began to long more and more for the tactile, analog experience that they provide. I wanted a person to give me recommendations, rather than an algorithm.
I know there are other people out there who are looking for the same experience. A personalized connection based on shared interests. If you are one of those people, then I want to talk about music with you. I will make you a mixtape.
